Post-processing errors can result in a needless waste of valuable time resources with financial loss. As part of our tooling process we conduct extended checking of your Gerber data prior to PCB manufacture.
Utilising Gemini's netlist compare service allows the CAD netlist generated from your original PCB design file, to be compared to a netlist generated from the Gerber and NC drill manufacturing data ensuring your Gerber file has been created accurately.
Any discrepancies can be rectified prior to expensive tooling, circuit board production and component placement. Without `Netlist Compare', Gerber faults can only be identified by chance or after board production.
Typical errors detected include:
Isolated thermals: Over-sizing clearance pads at the post-processing stage can cause some power connections to be isolated from the main power net.
Un-routed connections: Connections or part connections that have not been completely routed as required. Stub routes (where a route stops short of its destination) are common errors.
Split planes: Ground and power planes are often split using post-processing `tricks'. The data does not reflect the true electrical connectivity of the design.
All the errors found within the design are reported using meaningful CAD references. They may then be confirmed as genuine errors or intentional work-around. The report is easily understandable by PCB Designers and CAD/CAM operators. Manufacturing data can then be rectified before proceeding to circuit manufacture. The final result ensures our boards will be tested back to the intelligent 'design data' netlist.
We support a wide variety of CAD Systems, and all we require is your IPC-D-356 Netlist File. It may also be known as one of the following files, dependant on your CAD system:
Protel/Altium - Hyperlynx File (.hyp)
Mentor - Neutral File (.nf)
PADS 2000/Work/Perform/PowerPCB - ASCII File (.asc)
Bath Scientific/Seetrax Ranger 3 - Rislang (.ris)
Cadence Allegro - Symbol Pin Report (.rpt)
Cadstar - Windows Report Generator File (.rep)
FabMaster - Net XY Report or Part Pins List (.asc)
Orcad - MODLOC Location File or Cross Reference Netlist(.cad)
Veribest - Generic ATE Report (.ate)
